l am 14 and l am on a 3 tablet, 10 mg for 5 days dose of prednisone to treat pneumonia. l was on the same dose this August to treat pneumonia as well. Before the first pneumonia, l was 5'4'' 104 pounds, and now I've ballooned it seems, to 127lbs. but l only eat 1,500 calories a day on average. is this normal? and is it normal to get severe pneumonia twice within 5 months? please help me :)

Prednisone is a steriod & is actually a hormone that is found naturally in the body. It has a number of side effects, one of which is hunger because it messes with ur metabolism. I took a six day treatment of it a few weeks ago & it made me so hungry. I never felt full & I craved salty food. I spoke with my pharmacist & she told me that it was normal & that the side effects should go away ten days after I stop taking it.

You definitely do not sound like u weigh too much. If u r concerned about ur weight & the side effects of the medication, u should speak with ur parents & ur doctor.

you actualy are under weight when you wer 104 so be carefull dont let your weight change that dramaticaly your body is like a rubberband once it has been streched out to a sertain amoutn it wont strech back and you will end up with strech marks but no you are not fat im 15 5'4'' and weight 125 so your fineee(:
