l was recently diagnosed with Crohn is disease and on my last doctor is visit, l was prescribed prednisone at 20 mg a day for two months. After doing some extensive research on the drug and the side effects (which my doctor would not divulge on) l am fairly skeptical and fearful of taking this drug. Will l experience the side effects?
** Oh and another thing that concerns me, my doctor never mentioned anything about ''tapering off''**thanks

Will 20 mg of Prednisone per day for 2 months cause adverse side effects

I have had crohn is disease for 10 years & When I first got it, I was on prednisone for about the same time, (2 months). You can take for a long period of time, but u r supposed to taper off them. I started taking it again the end of December & I was taking 60mg, now after a month I am down to 50mg. every coupe of days I was told by my doctor to take 5 mg less. But the side effects r different for everyone. I eat all the time & can never sleep a full night. But the longer u r on them, the more ur body adjusts. I would talk to ur doctor about when u should start tapering off & tell him u more information about the drugs he wants u take.

Predisone has an effect on the aappetite it makes you eat more, It aalsomakes your bones brittle, check with the ppharmacistfor all the side effects. Two months is a long time for predisone. It will also take the flora out of the onintestineyou will need something like difilcam to replace it or you will get thrush if you have not already.
